What Does God Have In Store For Us This Year?!

Happy New Year!  It is the second week of January 2012 already...I can't believe how fast the holidays flew by (like they do every year)!  We are praising God for all the blessings in our life and one that has been abundant these last couple months is our small home-based business!  God surprised us by having someone (thank you to who ever you are!!) put our Door Muffs on Pinterest.com just before Thanksgiving!  What an unexpected financial gift that has come along with that!  Over 16,000 people have viewed our sweet lil' door muffs (that we designed ourselves!) and over 70 have been purchased...along with quilts and burp cloths!  The orders keep coming every day and I am busy sewing and mailing!
I just love it and feel so shocked and blessed by God's provision, which came at the perfect time!  If you feel like checking out our Store, here's the link: Sweet Dreams by Tami - Online Baby Boutique

Adoption Update # 2.5....only half an update because there is not much to update.  So Christmas came and went and as you might have guessed, I did not find a baby in my stocking this year!  :)  We are mailing out more fundraising letters each week and are waiting for God's perfect provisions!  Yesterday we received $250 to put in our "Baby Fund" from two wonderful and generous friends.  We are so thankful and blessed by every penny!  So we keep on waiting and trusting and moving forward with the life God has for us right now.

The running tally for our "Baby Fund" is: $1,680....with $18,320 to go!  We are also praying and waiting to see if we receive a grant from Lifetime Adoption to help lower the cost to sign our contract with them.  We are hoping to find out this week!

We have no idea what God has in store for us this year!  But we know it will be amazing...even if there are bumps and turns that we wish we could avoid....because God is the Lord of our life and He alone has planned our steps...where ever they take us!  Our eyes are turned heavenward and we trust and serve and love our God!

Thank you for your continued thoughts, prayers, and encouraging words!  They mean the world to us!

Adoption Update #2

Christmas is just three days away and oh how I'm hoping that I find a precious baby in my stocking this year! :)

Our hearts are aching to meet our children and our arms are aching to hold them.  The last few weeks have been emotional for me with the ups and downs of waiting....and choosing to make the conscience choice to turn my heart and desires over to God every second of the day.   God is FAITHFUL and the little boy playing next to me is the perfect example of that!  Colin brings me (us!) so much joy and fills my (our!) heart to overflowing with thanksgiving to God for making the three of us a family!!  Really, what more could I want...and if God chooses not to give us any more children then I am extremely happy with the beautiful little family God alone has created.

God has given Dustin and I an overwhelming desire and love for children, so we continue to wait and see what glorious plan He has for our family!

For God's GLORY we were given $1,000 to add to our "baby fund" this past week raising our "baby fund" to $1,430!  We are praising God for what He is doing in His PERFECT timing!  We have $18,570 more to go to reach our $20,000 goal.  In the next couple of weeks we'll be mailing out more letters to our friends asking for their help in reaching our goal if God wills.  So keep an eye on your mailbox!  :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

All our love,
Dustin, Tami, & Colin

Adoption Update #1

So today I sit here thankful for all God is doing in our lives.  His plan is perfect and we are (trying to) patiently wait for His perfect timing!

We are praying constantly for our future children and also that God will protect the birthfamilies and beautifully weave our paths together.

We have raised $430 towards our $20,000 goal.  We praise God for every penny and for our amazing friends and family who have helped us be one step closer to our goal!  We continue to pray for God's provision and to joyfully wait to see what God has planned.  We know it's gonna be amazing!

Proud

The St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series.....awesome....this household is celebrating!

This picture was taken yesterday before the start of Game 7.
We were 'trick or treating' at Dustin's work.  :)
(Dustin has been a Cardinals fan since he was 10 yrs. old.  So he is one happy man right now!)

Fairytales

Here's a small peek through the window of my heart...

Today I woke up and realized that I'm struggling with discontentment. So all day I've been trying to refocus my mind and heart on the great blessings in my life:  my forgiveness & relationship with God through Jesus Christ (huge)!  my amazing husband who truly loves me the way Christ loves the Church (huge)! our little miracle boy (huge)! my happy home life, my role as wife & mom & homemaker, my family and friends - all huge!  I truly have nothing to be "in want of"...and yet my heart struggles.  I feel silly.  We all have days like this right?  We don't always talk about them, but we all have them.

At lunch, Colin surprised me by making us a picnic area in the middle of the living room out of blankets, pillows, and even a lamp :) and asked to watch a movie together while we ate (I love these fun little moments that happen throughout our day).  I picked "Cinderella" for us to watch.....(it was Colin's first time seeing it...oh, and don't tell Dustin!  I know he'd rather have us watch, well, anything else!  ha).  So as pumpkins were turning into carriages, mice into horses, and rags into beauty, my heart half wished that dreams came true as easy as "Bibbity, Bobbity, Boo!" and the fitting of a simple glass slipper!

And then I came across an article that a friend recommended of a completely different subject (click here to view) and my heart was challenged, encouraged, and reminded of God's incredible truths and what my heart and mind needs to focus on.  Here is what touched my heart:
"Taking note of answered prayers is the best antidote I know for overcoming the forlorn assumption that your own prayers go unanswered. Soon you will see an abundance of prayers are answered every day, which balances out the long wait for other prayer requests."

"if we are still alive, the story of God’s grace in our lives is still being written. We don’t know the future. Only He knows the beginning from the end (Is. 46:10 and Rev. 21:6) and so it is arrogant to assume we can survey our circumstances and conclude we know what God is doing. (See: Naomi. A woman who was so very sure God’s hand was against her that she wanted to be called “Bitter.” But as she stood complaining, she had no idea that God was already at work to provide food, a kinsman-redeemer, an heir, and even far more unexpectedly, a place in the lineage of her Savior!)"

"Philippians 4:4-7 makes this very clear: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This passage makes it very easy for us to understand that all we can do is pray, be thankful, and avoid anxiousness, which leads to bitterness. We’re not in charge of the answers. We’re in charge of the petitions. So, petition away!"

"But be thankful in those petitions. Since we’re not the omniscient, omnipotent, perfect, holy, just, and merciful Being in these transactions, we get to be the grateful recipients. All the time. Without ceasing. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thes. 5:16-18)."
"What circumstances do you find yourself in today? Give thanks and pray without ceasing. For as we keep our eyes on Him and praise Him in all circumstances (the good, the happy, the hard, the confusing, the horrifying), we silence the Accuser, the one who exists to blame God for not being good and blame us for not being good enough."
"Of this I am supremely confident: When we see our Savior and Redeemer face to face, we will not regret being thankful for trusting Him, even in circumstances we could not control and would not have chosen. We will see then by the light of His glory all that He was doing in and through those very moments. What seemed like unanswered prayer will be set against the grand tapestry of His grace coursing through history. We will see what He was doing . . . and we will eternally praise Him for it."
"So pray without ceasing and eagerly await what God does in and through these prayers."
Amen!

God's promises are Good!  They are True!  They never fail!  And so my heart is encouraged and will continue to push aside this selfish pit that wants me to curl up on the couch, forget responsibility, and be able to wave my "magic wand" and get whatever I want right now.

God's timing is perfect and He has never once failed to work all things together for good in our life. Life for us hasn't always been easy, but it's good, very good and we are blessed, very blessed.  Romans 8:28 "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."  Sin in this world brought cancer and infertility into our lives, brought injury and financial hardship.  Yet God has used (and is continuing to use) these things for good - our son for starters(!!), opportunities to love on people in ways that only those who have experienced infertility can, moving us closer to family, bunches of time together as a family over these last 3 years (what kid gets to have both of his parents home all the time for the first 3 years of his life?  Pretty cool.), the future adoption of more precious kiddos, and the list can go on and on....and it will!  :)

As I think about my finishing sentence to this post, I realize that my heart is happier and more peaceful than it was a half hour ago.  Thank you God for refocusing me!

I pray this post will encourage those struggling and hurting and wanting more.  Thank God for the blessings right now and petition for the rest - in thankfulness and in accordance to God's will!

Pumpkin Patch

Today Colin and I embarked on his second ever outing to a pumpkin patch....and boy was it going to be great!   Over the past few weeks I have resisted the urge to buy "that perfect pumpkin" at Trader Joes because I wanted Colin to have the whole "pumpkin patch experience".  :)

So we started our morning at Starbucks with each of us getting our own hot apple cider and then headed the 7 miles to a local family farm.

Once there we were greeted with cows and beautiful fall colored trees lining the entrance to the dirt parking lot that's next to the large family home.

Once inside the farm, we grabbed a cute, rusty 'ol wagon and headed out to pick our own pumpkins!

We passed goats, pigs, emu's, and a llama - named Pilgrim.

The first stop was grabbing a pair of clippers to cut our pumpkins from the vine ~ love it!

And here's what we chose, out of the hundreds to choose from.....

Satisfied with our findings, and ready to get out of the hot sun, we headed to the play area!

And after two and a half hours of pumpkin patch FUN, it was time to go...with promises of returning next year!

Thank you Pumpkin Patch for making today all I had hoped it would be!

MonaVie!

I have recently become a MonaVie distributor.  Dustin and I have been using MonaVie for the past few months and have noticed some good changes to our health ~ increased energy, overall feeling GREAT, clearer thinking/no more brain fog, and more alertness.  :)  We love the results so much that we wanted to tell everyone we know about it!

My brother (and his wife) and my mom are also distributors.  They also have had significant changes to their health ~ no more joint pain, increase in vision, remembering where she (mom!) left her keys, feeling 17 again, tons of energy, etc.  And the more I talk to people who have taken MonaVie, the more stories of healing and greater health I come across.  And to be honest, most of the stories sound too good to be true!  However, I know them to be true because I know the people personally and have "seen" it.

I recently reconnected with a friend from college and she too has an amazing story (and gave me permission to share):  "Monavie changed my life four years ago...and I haven't taken it in a long time.....and want to start up again. Do you remember my hiccups? Well, I had them for five years and then the docs finally found a tumor in my thymus gland the size of a lemon. So I basically had open heart surgery to remove the tumor that was attached to my heart. Once I healed from surgery my hiccups were totally gone for just over a year. Then I got in a car accident and the hiccups came right back. This time the doc said it was permanent nerve damage. It was not as bad as before.....but still bad. I had them for another five years. That is when my uncle who had been helped a ton by drinking Monavie....told me I should take it. So I figured what could it hurt. Within three months my hiccups were gone. It was amazing and such a blessing! I even got feeling back in my left hand that had been gone for five years as well. I drank it for over a year...and then it was off and on from there. But, the last year or two I haven't drank it. My hiccups are still gone and I only get them once in awhile, like a normal person:-)

I wanted to share my story with you and how God used Monavie to change my life. I am glad you are selling it. "

She also went on to say that for many years her uncle was unable to lift his arm above his head and was in so much pain that he couldn't sleep.  After taking MonaVie, his pain was completely gone, he could move his arm above his head, and was able to stop taking all of his different medications!

It is amazing to see at work the healing power that God created in fruit!  Açai, apple, grape, pear, aronia, prune, kiwi, cranberry, black currant, blueberry, pomegranate, wolfberry, camu camu, maqui, acerola, banana, cupuaçu, bilberry, jabuticaba.
